[Before getting into the credits proper, I'm going to make a few more
personal comments. This is probably the most momentous set of credits
it's ever been my privilege to type up. The appearance of Malachi
Throne makes it an event. Throne did play Commodore Mendes in "The
Menagerie", but he has another Star Trek credit, back from the days
when the Enterprise's Number One was played by Majel Leigh Hudec.
Throne did the voice of The Keeper in the original Star Trek pilot,
"The Cage". Adding Mark Lenard to the cast makes this a big event,
equalled only by "Sarek", as far as TNG episodes go. Further, having
Leonard Nimoy in the credits as Spock puts this past even DeForest
Kelley's appearance in "Encounter at Farpoint". But what made this
stand out more than any other set of TNG credits ever could was the
title before the teaser, backed only by the fanfare from the original
Star Trek. There's a lot of Star Trek history below.--Roger Noe]
