A *SAVAGE* KIDNAPING...

   [ Picard on a planet, he is holding a knife;
     he dematerializes in a transport beam ]

   [ Riker and Worf on the bridge, the interior of an alien ship is on 
     the main viewscreen;  Three humanoid aliens can be seen, with some
     rather impressive head ridges, these are the Tamarians ]

   Riker (to viewscreen):  You're holding our Captain.  
                           I want him released.

...AND PICARD IS FORCED TO PLAY A DANGEROUS GAME OF SURVIVAL.

   [ Picard stabs a large, glowing "dragon lizard" type creature 
     with an energized "power dagger";  An energy bolt throws him
     back, and he drops the weapon ]

  Picard (to unseen aliens):  NOOO!!

   [ The alien ship fires a focused green beam at an Enterprise 
     shuttle; The shuttle is hit, sending Worf and his female 
     co-pilot spiraling out of control ]

NOW THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY TO BRING HIM BACK ALIVE...

   [ Geordi, Troi, and Riker in the conference lounge ]

  Geordi:  It's going to take me at least a full day to do it.

  Troi:    Captain Picard could be dead by then...

   [ Back on the planet with Picard, the alien creature 
     is materializing behind him;  He turns ]

...AND IT COULD LEAD TO A FULL SCALE WAR!

   [ The alien ship is facing the Enterprise, in orbit over a planet ]

   [ On the bridge: Riker in the command chair, Troi at his side ]

  Riker:  Stand by to fire, Mr. Worf.

   [ Alien ship fires on the Enterprise, hitting the 
     port warp nacelle; it appears to power down ]

   [ Back on the bridge, with emergency lighting ]

  Data:  We cannot survive another hit.

   [ The Enterprise fires a yellow beam, from the area of the 
     forward photon torpedo launcher; the alien ship is hit ]

   [ On the planet, the creature is again attacking Picard;  He stands,
     holding the blade;  He has been slashed across the stomach ]
