   [ a green energy beam sweeps across Ensign Ro and the other bridge crew ]

  Riker:   I don't know who any of you are.

  Picard:  I don't even remember who I am...

...THE CREW STRUGGLE TO FIND THEIR TRUE IDENTITIES...

   [ in Sickbay, Bev examines a convulsing patient on a biobed ]

   [ in private quarters, Riker kisses Ensign Ro ]

   [ Ro Llaran, now wearing a dress, approaches Riker ]

  Ro:  You and I could be married.

...AND DISCOVER THEY ARE IN THE MIDST OF AN ALIEN WAR.

   [ The Enterprise approaches a large space station ]

   [ On the bridge, Worf and Riker fire phasers at an 
     alien masquerading as a Starfleet officer ]

   [ Geordi gives a briefing with a tactical computer display in background ]

  Geordi:  We've been ordered across into Lysian territory 
           and to destroy their central command.

   [ The Enterprise fires phasers and destroys an incoming ship ]

   [ Troi in the briefing room ]

  Troi:  There could be thousands of lives at stake.

   [ NUMEROUS ships converging and firing on the Enterprise,
     which returns fire with multiple phaser blasts ]
